As part of the National Council for Human Rights’ participation in the 89th Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, held in Dakar, Senegal, Mohamed Osman, NCHR Board Member, met with Commissioner Hatem Essaiem, Vice-Chairperson of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation and enhance communication and engagement between NCHR and African human rights mechanisms.
The meeting forms part of the ongoing and intensive institutional engagement between NCHR and the African Commission at various levels of representation. It follows discussions held in Geneva between an NCHR delegation, headed by it Vice President Mr. Mohamed Anwar El-Sadat, and Idrissa Sow, Chairperson of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, on the sidelines of the United Nations Human Rights Council’s proceedings.
The meeting underscored the importance of continued coordination, exchange of expertise, and strengthening cooperation frameworks between the two institutions. These efforts aim to support NCHR's engagement with the African human rights system and promote institutional cooperation and the exchange of expertise in relevant areas.
